The 4th Annual Creole & Market Day at Gasaway Deli will be held from October 25th to 27th, celebrating the rich and diverse culinary traditions of the Caribbean. The event promises to be a cultural feast, offering patrons a unique opportunity to experience authentic Creole cuisine, music, and a vibrant market atmosphere.
The Creole Day menu features an extensive selection of traditional Caribbean dishes, including seafood callaloo, crab backs, smoked chicken callaloo, titiwe acra, and saltfish cakes, to name a few. Specialty items like saltfish sanchoch—a flavorful dish made with coconut milk—roasted breadfruit, and smoked meat in papaya sauce will also be on offer, showcasing the region's diverse and flavorful food culture. Popular items such as pelau, stuffed plantain, and smoked turkey callaloo will round out the extensive menu, which aims to provide something for every palate.
Complementing the culinary offerings, the event will feature live Creole music, creating a festive atmosphere that celebrates the Caribbean's cultural heritage.
In addition to enjoying delicious food, visitors will have the chance to shop at the Market Day event, taking place on October 25th and 26th. The market will offer a variety of fresh produce and hard-to-find items. These include dasheen, yams, sweet potatoes, ginger, avocado, and seasoning pepper. Shoppers can also find unique products like cocoa sticks, castor oil, and traditional Caribbean oils such as Alba's oil and Shilling oil.
This year's event promises not only a culinary delight but also a cultural experience that celebrates the blending of different Caribbean traditions, bringing together food, music, and community.
