The Bohlke International Aviation Hangar was once again the backdrop for an unforgettable evening, as the St. Croix Foundation's Wine in the Warehouse returned on Friday night. This event, a cornerstone of the island's culinary calendar, marked the 15th anniversary of the signature occasion.
Organized by the St. Croix Foundation, the elegant affair exceeded expectations in virtually all categories — food, beverages, entertainment and turnout.
Deanna James, president and CEO of the St. Croix Foundation, expressed her satisfaction with the outcome, and she emphasized the critical role of sponsors in making it a success. "The funds raised from this event allow us to support our operations and programming throughout the year," Ms. James stated. "This annual fundraiser not only helps us financially but also shines a spotlight on our vibrant culinary industry. "
One notable addition to this year's Wine in the Warehouse was the presence of Tiffany Derry, a renowned Celebrity Top Chef known for her culinary prowess showcased on shows such as "Top Chef: All Stars," "Chopped," "Chopped Kids," "The Great American Recipe," and "Tournament of Champions." Her presence added an extra layer of value and excitement to the evening.
Regina Benois, attending her first Wine in the Warehouse experience, was effusive in her praise for the event. Having previously participated in wine tastings and experiences in various states, she remarked, "The island vibes here tonight were something different, unlike anything I've experienced before. Nothing can compare to this evening." She particularly enjoyed Grapetree Bay Hote's mashed potatoes with ribs and Chai Rum imported from Trinidad, as well as the exquisite selection of Red Wine, which stole the show for her palate.
In many ways, Wine in the Warehouse is a celebration of St. Croix's flourishing food culture, with tastings available at various vendor tables. The event's setting, enhanced by a backdrop of jets, some accessible for the evening, makes it one of the most premium events of the holiday season on St. Croix.
