Man Found Dead After Early-Morning Shooting in Contant, St. Thomas

Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Contant after the Shot Spotter Detection System alerted officers to gunfire around 12:15 a.m. Thursday. Responding units found an unresponsive man in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds.

ST. CROIX — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred just after midnight Thursday in Contant, where a man was found unresponsive in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to the V.I. Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau, the incident occurred on November 6, 2025, at approximately 12:15 a.m. when the Shot Spotter Detection System alerted officers to multiple gunshots fired in the Contant area.

Moments later, a concerned citizen contacted police to report that a male was lying in the roadway bleeding from his upper body. Patrol units responded to the scene and discovered the victim, who had sustained several gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians arrived shortly thereafter and determined that the man had no vital signs.

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name, pending notification of next of kin.

The case is being handled as a homicide investigation under the VIPD’s Major Crimes Unit, and no suspect information has been released at this time.

Thursday’s killing marks the 14th homicide on St. Thomas this year. So far in 2025, the Virgin Islands has recorded a total of 28 homicides, including 12 on St. Croix and two on St. John.
