Architect and cultural preservationist Gerville R. Larsen, remembered for his work honoring Virgin Islands heritage.

Family and friends of Gerville Rene Larsen are inviting the wider community to gather for a Celebration of Life reception and exhibit on Saturday, December 6, at the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts in Frederiksted. The event, which will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., is intended as a space for people to honor his legacy and share personal memories in a relaxed setting.

Gerville passed away on October 29, 2025, in Miami, Florida. Organizers say the gathering aims to reflect the creativity and vibrancy that defined him, and attendees are encouraged to wear colorful attire in recognition of his “unique and creative spirit.”

Instead of floral arrangements, the family is requesting donations to support the creation of a scholarship that will benefit local art and architecture students in Gerville’s honor. Details about the scholarship and how to contribute will be announced at a later time.

The family expressed appreciation for the prayers and kind thoughts shared by the community during what they described as an incredibly difficult period. They noted that individuals who cannot attend the event in person will have the option to join via livestream at: https://evt.live/a-celebration-of-life-gerville-larsen.

“We look forward to seeing you,” the family added in their announcement.
