ST. CROIX — Two masked men resorted to assaulting a victim in his own home after discovering that the victim had no money in the residence to steal, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.

According to police, on Sunday at 2:48 p.m., the 911 emergency call center dispatched officers to Estate Glynn following reports of a robbery.

Upon arrival, the victim, who was assaulted in his own residence, told investigators that he heard footsteps and that two black men wearing all black with their faces covered pointed a gun at him and demanded money.  The victim said he told the suspects that he did not have any money. He then went into another room and was assaulted by the suspects. The suspects then left the area, according to Mr. Derima.

One suspect was described as tall and slim, about 5 feet 10 inches in height. The other suspect was described as short, about 5 feet 6 inches in height.

This case is presently under investigation. The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information about this incident to call the Police Tip Line at (340) 778-4950, or contact Crime Stoppers USVI with an anonymous tip here.
