St. Thomas Couple Jailed on Gun and Drug Charges

ST. THOMAS -- A Bovoni couple was arrested and charged with illegal drug and gun charges this week, the V.I. Police disclosed.
 
On Nov. 24, officers arrested Shawn Daley, 32, and charged him with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and arrested Delma Mathurin, age 26 and charged her with possession of an unlicensed firearm.
 
Officers were dispatched to the Bovoni Housing community in reference to a disturbance at about 9:30 p.m.
 
Daley and Mathurin, who are in a domestic partnership, were involved in an altercation. When officers interviewed Daley, he told them that Mathurin owned a firearm, which he secured for his own safety.
 
Officers also found marijuana in the residence, and Mathurin told the officers that it belonged to Daley. Daley was arrested for possession of the marijuana, and Mathurin was arrested for possession of the firearm.
 
Daley was unable to post $10,000 bail, and Mathurin was unable to post $50,000 bail. Both were remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending their advisement hearing.
