ST. CROIX — A man lost his life during a vehicular accident on St. Croix early Sunday, which occurred near the Sion Farm Shopping Center on Centerline Road around the 5:00 a.m. hour.

The accident included two vehicles, a black car and a black Ford Explorer. Video surveillance cameras show both vehicles traveling from East to West near the first entrance coming from East to enter the Sion Farm Shopping Center. The Ford Explorer was attempting to enter the shopping center entrance, and slowed down to do so, but the black car had so much speed that it could not stop fast enough to allow the Ford Explorer to take the right. The black car wound up hitting the Explorer.

The accident resulted in both vehicles violently spinning out of control and winding up on the side of the road facing the shopping center. Both vehicles were badly damaged, with the car being totaled and the Explorer sustaining damage to the side and rear.

The deceased has since been identified as Davindra Ramsundar, Jr. He was 24.

St. Croix Rescue, EMS, and VIPD officers were on the scene performing various duties. Traffic was blocked off from both directions as first responders investigated the accident.

Correction: Nov. 10, 2019

Surveillance video has since showed that both vehicles were coming from the east, not one from east and the other from the west, as previously stated by persons on the scene, including a first responder. The story has been updated to reflect the correct information.
