Man Found Dead On Sion Farm Road Near Lew Muckle School; Cause Of Death Unknown

News / Virgin Islands / September 6, 2019

ST. CROIX — On Thursday, as Virgin Islanders on St. Croix were headed to work, and parents whose children attend classes at the Lew Muckle Elementary School dropped them off, a man was found dead on the road near the school, located in Sion Farm, with no apparent signs as to what caused his death.

According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte, the 911 emergency call center was notified of the unresponsive individual at 6:22 a.m.

The incident clogged traffic as law enforcement officers redirected drivers to a short detour around the scene. A Medical Examiner’s Office vehicle used to carry dead bodies was also on the scene.

The deceased was identified by next of kin as 26-year-old Raheem Thomas.

Mr. Dratte said an investigation into the matter includes the results of an autopsy, which, as of Thursday night was still pending.
