Police Investigating Death of Man Who Drove Himself to Fire Station With Gunshot Wound To The Neck

ST. THOMAS — Virgin Islands police are investigating the death of a man who drove himself to the Emile C. Berry Fire Station in Dorothea a with gunshot wound to the neck at about 9:22 p.m. Wednesday.

With emergency medical technicians already on the scene, the victim was taken to the Roy L. Schneider Regional Medical Center by ambulance, where he later died. According to a police department statement, officers from the Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Richard N. Callwood Command responded.

“Criminal Investigation Bureau officer’s preliminary investigation revealed that the male was shot elsewhere and drove himself to the Dorothea Fire Station seeking refuge,” the V.I.P.D. said. Authorities are withholding the victim’s name until next of kin is notified.
