Abijah Isaac, Wanted On Firearm, Ammunition And Controlled Substance Charges, Turns Himself In

Crime / News / Virgin Islands / June 12, 2019

ST. CROIX — Abijah Isaac, wanted by the Virgin Islands Police Department on a number of charges, turned himself in on Tuesday, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.

Mr. Isaac, 19, was involved in an incident on May 19 that occurred on Contentment Road near the Christiansted Bypass, where a gray, four-door SUV overtook two vehicles in an unsafe area. A traffic stop was conducted on the gray SUV and contact was made with the three occupants of the vehicle. One of the occupants was an unknown black male who had exited the vehicle and took off running. Officers pursued this individual and saw as he dropped a black object later discovered to be a firearm. The unknown male managed to flee the scene and avoid detention. The other occupants were later placed under arrest for firearm and drug possession charges, Mr. Dratte said.

The following day, Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives conducted a followup investigation and were able to secure a warrant for the arrest of Mr. Isaac.

On Tuesday, Mr. Isaac turned himself in, was served with the arrest warrant, and was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of sale of ammunition, and possession of a controlled substance.

Unable to post bail of $75,000, Mr. Isaac was remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility pending his advisement hearing.
