Over The Weekend, A Superstar Visited His Homeland

Entertainment / News / Virgin Islands / August 12, 2014

Unsuspecting to many, just as expected by the low-key superstar, he walked through the Christiansted town like a regular athlete visiting an exotic Island, looking for something “Caribbean” to eat. Only he’s not just any other athlete, he is St. Croix native and San Antonio Spurs superstar Tim Duncan. Blink, and you would have missed him.

Or maybe not, because the beautiful woman and the two adorable children that he traversed Christiansted with would have caught your attention, eventually setting your gaze on the man himself. Yes, Timmy, as he’s affectionately called, visited St. Croix with girlfriend Vanessa Macias and his two children , daughter Sydney and son Draven last weekend.

Duncan and his family took a trip to Buck Island, visited his childhood home in Catherine’s Rest and, of course,  dinned twice at Harvey’s Restaurant located in Christiansted, his main food stop when on Island.

“He’s still the same,” Sarah Harvey, who lived next door to Duncan as he grew up on the Island told the Daily News. “He said he’d try to be back more often. He looks good.”

Richie Harvey, who also works in the family-owned restaurant grew up with Duncan and said that the superstar showed up on Saturday afternoon, unannounced, wandering the streets of downtown Christiansted.

Duncan and his family left St. Croix on Monday.

I wear many hats, I suppose, but the one which fits me best would be journalism, second to that would be radio personality, thirdly singer/songwriter and down the line. I've been the Editor-In-Chief at my videogames website, Gamesthirst, for over 5 years, writing over 7,000 articles and more than 2 million words. I'm also very passionate about where I live, the United States Virgin Islands, and I'm intent on making it a better place by being resourceful and keeping our leaders honest. VI Consortium was birthed out of said desire, hopefully my efforts bear fruit. Reach me at [email protected].
