Watch | Home In Estate Diamond On St. Croix Destroyed By Fire

Featured / News / Videos / Virgin Islands / April 18, 2019

ST. CROIX — A home in Estate Diamond, which is close to Strawberry, was destroyed Wednesday morning after being engulfed by fire, according to first responders and eye witnesses on the scene. As of late Wednesday morning, VI Fire Service personnel were investigating the cause.

First responders said they were summoned to the scene at about 10:00 a.m., and were able to contain the blaze before noon. At least four fire trucks were used to put out the fire.

No one was injured.

The owner of the home, a photographer who was only able to save one of his cameras, told The Consortium that the home, an earthly belonging, was but for a time, and that he was not worried about it. “If you understand who is really in control of life, you would not worry about these things,” the man said, suggesting a lifestyle of faith and spirituality.

“Everything is for a time,” he added cheerfully “I’m okay.”
