Police Make Arrest Based On Ammunitions Tip

ST. CROIX — Police on Thursday arrested a suspect based on a tip provided by community members that the man was illegally in possession of ammunition, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.

The man, identified by police as 32-year-old Pernell A. Towers, Jr., was arrested after the 7:00 p.m. hour Thursday inside an apartment in the Harbor View Housing Community, Mr. Dratte said.

According to Mr. Dratte, permission was given for police to enter the apartment that Mr. Towers was in. As they entered the apartment, they came in contact with Mr. Towers, who was found to be in possession of ammunition, Mr. Dratte said.

Mr. Towers was placed under arrest and transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station, where he was charged with unauthorized possession of ammunition. Unable to make bail of $10,000, he was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advisement hearing.
