St. Croix Native Aria Garcia Unveils Well-Received Collection At New York Fashion Week

Featured / Lifestyle / News / Virgin Islands / March 12, 2019

St. Croix native and New York-based designer Aria Garcia recently unveiled what was described as an exquisite and well received 2019 Fall/Winter collection for her line AREGA, at New York Fashion Week. Ms. Garcia is CEO and creative director of the emerging women’s couture brand.

Held in the Big Apple annually, Fashion Week is a world stage event providing global designers a platform to showcase new collections to massive domestic and international press, fashion editors, buyers, celebrities and entertainment industry influencers. Ms. Garcia received a standing ovation during her finale walk down the runway after showcasing several bridal and evening gowns, lingerie and other avant-garde interchangeable pieces.

“This new collection was inspired by the empowering and fearless energy that a confident woman exudes,” she said during a V.I.P. press conference held at Google’s headquarters in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. “The intricate infrastructure and impeccable detailing with my signature seamless gowns represent this type of woman, I call her the AREGA woman.”

Born and raised on St. Croix, Ms. Garcia credits the gift of a sewing machine from her grandmother at eight years old with igniting the dream of becoming a fashion designer — a goal that has come to fruition after dedicated years perfecting the craft and business acumen of running a successful fashion brand.

Ms. Garcia is multitalented and has simultaneously cultivated her career as a designer, actress and style influencer, according to the release. In 2017, she was selected as a semi-finalist for BRAVO’s hit fashion reality series Project Runway. In 2018, she made her national television acting debut appearing in acclaimed TV/Film director Ryan Murphy’s FX hit series “Pose.”

Ms. Garcia has created signature red carpet statements for an arsenal of domestic and international clients. Some include iconic beauty guru Patrick Starrr; Japanese pop star Mika Nakashima; Radio/TV Personality Melyssa Ford; legendary model Diva Davanna; and Sports Illustrated supermodel Jessica White to name a few.
