UVI Call Center Hosts Third Annual Thank-a-Thon

Community Center / News / Virgin Islands / November 23, 2018

The University of the Virgin Islands Alumni Call Center is hosting its 3rd annual Thank-a-Thon from Nov. 21-28, the university has announced. Alumni will be phoned and thanked for their contributions to UVI over the years. The Thank-a-Thon is primarily powered by highly trained UVI students and seeks to show appreciation for the support shown by the alumni and global community.

“It is a great feeling to be a member of the student body and a member of the dynamic Call Center team which has aided in raising funds for scholarships and academic programs. Even though we were a small team this year, we made a big impact with our alumni,” said Dayanara Felix, a sophomore attending UVI pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. “I really enjoyed myself while interacting with our alumni who took time to share their stories and memories while they were attending UVI and or CVI.”

Last fiscal year, the center was challenged with a goal to achieve a 25 percent alumni participation rate. Although impacted by the hurricanes, the team was able to reach more than half of the goal.

“Working at the call center has been a wonderful experience for me. I was able to speak and connect with the UVI alumni family and friends of the institution and learn about their time at UVI,” said Uniqua Malone, a music education major and Call Center manager. “I am also happy that I was able to raise funds for the various scholarships and programs for UVI,”

The UVI Alumni Call Center is asking individuals to be reminded that the thank-a-thon is not a solicitation call. The point is not to call and ask for money but to call and express gratitude for the support of the community throughout the 56 years of UVI’s existence.

We would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful Holiday Season coming from the UVI Alumni Call Center team.

For more information, please contact Uniqua Malone at [email protected].
