Man’s Body Found ‘Burned Beyond Recognition’ In Camry In St. Thomas

Crime / News / Virgin Islands / October 27, 2018

ST. CROIX — The V.I.P.D. on Friday announced that the force’s Major Crimes Unit was investigating an incident that occurred in the Tutu Valley area, after the body of a man was found “burned beyond recognition” in a Toyota Camry.

That’s according to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte, who said Friday that investigators were dispatched to the scene in the wee hours of Friday morning — at about 1:46 a.m. — after being notified of the homicide.

Mr. Dratte said emergency medical technicians on the scene found no vital signs when the victim was examined. He said the victim, as of Friday, had not yet been identified because of how badly the body was burned.

The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211. Residents may also send an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers USVI here.
