Special Nutrition Announces Availability Of 2018-19 Fresh Fruit And Vegetable Program

The Department of Education, State Office of Special Nutrition Programs has announced the availability of the 2018-2019 school year Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP). The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program provides all children in participating schools with a variety of free fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the school day, according to D.O.E. It is an effective and creative way of introducing fresh fruits and vegetables as healthy snack options, the release stated. 

All public elementary schools in the St. Thomas/St. John and St. Croix Districts are encouraged to apply.  Applications can be picked up or emailed beginning Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Special Nutrition Programs Office, in St. Thomas, located at the bottom of Polyberg Hill in the former J. Antonio Jarvis Annex School and on St. Croix at the Department of Education -Main Complex located at 2133 Hospital Street, C’sted, VI, respectively. Deadline for applying is Tuesday, May 22, 2018 by 5:00 p.m.
