ST. CROIX — U.S. Marshal Jim Clark for the District of the Virgin Islands announced today the arrest of federal escapee Nathaniel Thomas, who was wanted for escape and Ivan James, wanted for double domicide by the Virgin Islands Police Department (V.I.P.D.). 

On March 15, 2018 federal inmate Nathaniel Thomas escaped from the Golden Grove Detention Center two days after being convicted by a jury in District Court for weapons related offenses.  Ivan James was wanted by the V.I.P.D. for the double homicide that occurred in February of 2018 at the cockpit located in St. Croix. 

Early this morning the U.S. Marshals from the District of the Virgin Islands, working with the U.S. Marshals Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Task Force in Puerto Rico, located and arrested Nathaniel Thomas along with Ivan James without incident in  Ponce, PR.

During the fugitive investigation, the U.S. Marshals were assisted by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the United States Attorney’s Office, and Crime Stoppers USVI.
