ST. THOMAS — A rape incident was reported on the University of the Virgin Islands’ St. Thomas campus on Saturday, according to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte.

Mr. Dratte said the V.I.P.D.’s Criminal Investigation Bureau was dispatched to the Schneider Regional Medical Center where an interview was performed with the victim.

The victim, a 19-year-old female, told investigators that sometime between 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, a male individual came into her dorm room at the UVI campus in St. Thomas and sexually assaulted her.

Mr. Dratte said the victim was treated and released. A police investigation is also underway, he said.

UVI could not be reached for comment at time of writing.
