Watch: Al Baptiste Jr., Well-Known St. Croix Musician, Presents $1010 Donation To Lew Muckle Elementary School

News / Videos / Virgin Islands / February 1, 2018

ST. CROIX — Panther Vibes International, an Anguilla band whose members are spread across three islands — St. Croix, St. Thomas and Anguilla — on January 27 held a fundraiser concert to benefit three schools, one on each island.

Today on St. Croix, Alwin “Daddy Jones” Baptiste, Jr., a well-known musician, made a check presentation of $1010 to the Lew Muckle Elementary School’s 3rd grade classes on behalf of the band, which he is a member of.

According to a release the band issued today, the fundraiser, called “Shub Back to Give Back”, was born out of the desire to not only be a part of the recovery process of the islands, but to also focus on the youth. “The concept was very simple: All 3 different home islands were affected by hurricanes this past season, thus a fundraiser with 100 percent of the proceeds to benefit a school that a member is affiliated with in each island,” Mr. Baptiste said.

The event was held at the Tomac Plaza in Anguilla, from 9:00 p.m. on Jan. 27 to 2:00 a.m. the following morning. Among the featured artists were DJ Sugar, DJ Deany and DJ Legend. It was headlined by Pantha Vibes International, and all performers donated their services free of charge.
