New UVI Student Orientation For Spring 2018 Set For Jan. 16 – 18

Spring semester classes at the University of the Virgin Islands are scheduled to begin on Monday, Jan. 22.  Online registration for continuing UVI students is available, with access through the University’s BanWeb registration and student information portal.  Late registration for new and continuing students is set for Friday, Jan. 19.  UVI class schedules, a link to the BanWeb login page and additional details are available from the Registrar’s section of the UVI website:www.uvi.edu.

New Student Orientation

Orientation activities are planned from Tuesday, Jan. 16, to Thursday, Jan. 18, for new students enrolling at UVI on both campuses.  New student advisement and registration is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 18, on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix and on the St. Thomas Campus.  All newly accepted students are required to participate in orientation activities prior to the start of the semester for academic advising and development of their class schedules.  Orientation also includes sessions to introduce new students to UVI, networking with other students and instructors, campus tours, an official welcome from UVI President David Hall, and student exchange meetings on both campuses.

“The University is excited to welcome new students to our campuses for Spring 2018,” said Verna Rivers, dean of students on the St. Thomas Campus. “Planned activities will get them ready to be successful academically. Campus tours will inform them of computer lab access, including needed resources like our 24/7 computer labs and our Center for Student Success.”

“We will welcome our new Buccaneers with open arms to our campus,” said Hedda Finch-Simpson, Dean of Students on the Sheen Campus. “Our orientation plans aim to acclimate students to life on campus to ensure their rapid success socially and academically.”
