Libraries Reopen In St. Thomas and St. Croix

The Department of Planning and Natural Resources (D.P.N.R.) has announced that the Charles W. Turnbull Regional Library on St. Thomas, above, and the Florence Williams Library on St. Croix reopened on Monday. The facilities’ hours of operation is from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Services at the Turnbull Regional Library will be limited to the main floor areas where the Public Computer Center, the Von Scholten Collection, and Public Services in the general circulation area are housed, D.P.N.R. said. The popular Children’s Room will be open as well.

Florence Williams Public Library in Christiansted is ready for patrons and is equipped with electricity and internet.

Acting director of library services, Arlene Pinney-Benjamin, is requesting for library patrons to return all checked-out books, regardless of the condition  — even hurricane damaged material — to either the Turnbull or Williams Library. D.P.N.R. Commissioner Dawn Henry urges the community to visit the local libraries and borrow a good book during these times of recovery and fewer entertainment options.
