St. Croix Educational Complex, CTEC And Arthur Richards School Openings Pushed To Wednesday

Community Center / Education / Virgin Islands / October 22, 2017

ST. CROIX — The Department of Education announced late Sunday that the St. Croix Educational Complex, Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) and Arthur A. Richards Junior High school openings have been postponed until Wednesday.

Attempts to relocate shelter residents temporarily housed at the Educational Complex school site were unsuccessful, D.O.E. said. Once the shelter is vacated, the school will reopen to students.

School staff are asked to report to the school for routine sign-in.

D.O.E. also announced that there will be a meeting on Monday for all school monitors, special area teachers and interested teachers—whose schools have not reopened—in the Juanita Gardine Elementary School cafeteria at 10:00 a.m.

St. Thomas – St. John District

D.O.E. said that on Monday the Ulla F. Muller Elementary School and the Gladys Abraham Elementary School will begin split session instruction at the Muller campus in Contant. Muller students will attend the morning session from 7:30 a.m. to 12 noon and Gladys Abraham students will report for the afternoon session, 11:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Buses will begin pick-up of Muller students on their normal routes at 6:15 a.m. and buses for Gladys Abraham students will begin pick-up at 10:15 a.m. An additional pick-up point has been established for Gladys Abraham students in the Kirwan Terrace community.

The status of Yvonne Milliner-Bowsky/E. Benjamin Oliver and Lockhart Elementary schools will be announced.
