ST. CROIX — A St. Croix woman was arrested and charged with fraud on Wednesday after she allegedly plotted a fraudulent transaction at the Home Depot store located at the Island Crossing Shopping Center in Barren Spot, where she was employed as a supervisor, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced Thursday.
Police from the V.I.P.D.’s economic crime unit descended on the Home Depot store at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday to investigate the matter, after being contacted by the store, whose officials had conducted an internal investigation, according to Mr. Dratte.
According to the detective on the case, On July 7, Angela Felix, 28, took an item from the store, brought it to a cashier and told the cashier that someone had returned the item. The cashier, respecting the supervisory authority of Ms. Felix, credited a Home Depot credit card with $349 for the item. According to the detective, on July 8 Ms. Felix used the funds on the Home Depot credit card to purchase other items from the store, and sold those items for her own gain.
Ms. Felix admitted to the crime, according to Mr. Dratte.
Unable to make bail of $10,000, Ms. Felix was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center. Her advisement hearing was scheduled for today, Mr. Dratte said.
