Waste Management Reports LBJ Force Main Leak In Orange Grove Area

Community Center / June 13, 2017

ST. CROIX — The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises St. Croix residents of a force main leak that occurred at one of the pressure relief valves in the Orange Grove area (near the LBJ pump station).

Crews will perform an assessment in the morning and execute the necessary corrective action. Repairs are anticipated to be completed by 8 pm tomorrow night.

Traffic in this area will be reduced to one lane. Northbound traffic coming from Queste Verde will be re-routed to Contentment Road. Local traffic in the vicinity of the repair will be allowed.

Residents with impacted immune systems or respiratory conditions are asked to avoid the area until repairs are complete.

Residents and businesses are also asked to refrain from pouring liquid grease and various personal products down the drain. These items can and do impact operations at the VIWMA’s pump stations and wastewater treatment facilities.
