ST. THOMAS — A St. Thomas woman struck a male acquaintance in his face with a piece of stick and punched him in his left eye causing damage to it, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced on Wednesday.

According to Mr. Dratte, police arrested 34-year-old Valencia Charles on Tuesday and charged her with third-degree assault. She was later remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending her advise-of-rights hearing.

The incident started at Ms. Charles’s home, where she allegedly struck the victim with a stick and punched him in the left eye. Police did not say what caused the altercation. The victim then fled the suspect’s home, but she allegedly pursued him to Hospital Ground, where she picked up a piece of concrete and hurled it towards the suspect’s car, damaging the rear glass, according to Mr. Dratte.

Ms. Charles’s advise-of-rights hearing took place today.
