Mapp In Florida For Meetings, Thanksgiving With Family

Governor Kenneth Mapp has left the territory for Florida, where Government House says he will be attending some meetings and spending the Thanksgiving break with his family; a long-held tradition, according to the release.

Mr. Mapp also took time out to express best wishes to residents for the season, while keeping in mind the less fortunate.

“Thanksgiving is the perfect time to reflect on all of the blessings we have received throughout the year. It also gives us the opportunity to celebrate with loved ones and family around a healthy, home-cooked meal. However, in the spirit of true Virgin Islands hospitality, we would do well to remember those less fortunate, seniors that may be alone and community members that may be suffering from a temporary setback,” he said.

The territory’s leader has been updating his followers on Facebook about his exploits while in Florida, including exercising and indoor skydiving, which took place on Sunday. The governor also attended a Steel Pulse concert last night, where he said he met Virgin Islanders.

Mr. Mapp is set to return on November 26. While his out of the territory, Lieutenant Governor Osbert Potter will serve as governor, in accordance with local law.
