Nikki Brooks, Near Top Of Tempo Chart, Will Perform At Major Event With Soca Greats

Art / Entertainment / June 1, 2016

NEW YORK, NY — TEMPO Networks in a newly released promotional ad announced that St. Croix’s Nikki Brooks will perform in a line-up of entertainment for the network’s inaugural Caribbean Rocks NYC – TEMPO Turns 10 Anniversary event, a press release Ms. Brooks’ publicist issued on Tuesday has made known.

Caribbean Rocks NYC – TEMPO Turns 10, a combination of destination and talent showcase and awards ceremony, will take place on Sunday, June 5 at the legendary B.B. King’s Blues Club and Grill in Times Square NY. Caribbean Rocks will be the crowning event in the annual week of activities comprising Caribbean Week NY 2016, which runs from June 1 through 5.

The event is presented by TEMPO Networks, in partnership with the Caribbean Tourism Organization (C.T.O.), and sponsored by the Bahamas, taking center stage as Platinum sponsor.

Joining the Islands of the Bahamas are the islands of Barbados (Gold), Turks and Caicos (Silver) and St. Kitts (Bronze). The Caribbean Rocks NYC talent line-up includes Ms. Brooks, Romain Virgo, R. City (“Rock City”), Cecile, Loyal Flames, Ziggy Ranking, Isaac Blackman, RKG, soca stars Kerwin Dubois and Shurwayne Winchester along with TEMPO Artist Arita. The event will also feature a special performance by Caribbean music royalty, The Mighty Sparrow, who will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

According to the release, the Caribbean Rocks line-up is designed to honor the legacy of Caribbean music as a dominant cultural force worldwide and its importance in defining the Caribbean tourism product. The exciting array of talent includes the next generation of powerful Caribbean artists, music and entertainment, selected both to stimulate and energize the Caribbean diaspora and general market, and cement the relationship between Caribbean entertainment and tourism. Caribbean Rocks NYC – TEMPO Turns 10 will air on TEMPO as the network recently announced its partnership with Verizon Fios expanding TEMPO’s reach to millions of Verizon Fios subscribers throughout the U.S.

“I’m super excited! The speed at which things are moving with my recently released Know Me Now album and Play Me Like Pan video is an overwhelmingly joyous feeling,” said Ms. Brooks via phone interview from Anguilla, where she’s currently rehearsing with her band for the Tempo event.

“Performing on the B.B. King’s stage amongst this lineup doesn’t get any better. I feel so blessed. I’m eternally grateful to my team and Tempo Chairman Frederick Morton Jr., for this opportunity,” she added.

Ms. Brooks’ Play Me Like Pan video hit was major hit on The Consortium and has risen to number 2 on Tempo’s Cross Caribbean Countdown. She will be shooting her next music video while in NY for the title track off her album “Know Me Now”, which will be released on TEMPO and other platforms this summer.

According to the release, the Tempo performance will magnify Brooks’ music and brand notoriety globally as a U.S.V.I.-based female Soca Artist. Her album is currently available on iTunes, CD Baby and Amazon.
