Quick Note: St. Thomas' First Responder Arm Boosted With 13 New Firefighters

ST. THOMAS — On Wednesday morning thirteen Virgin Islanders were sworn in as members of the Virgin Islands Fire Service at Government House on St. Thomas.

The eleven young men and two young women sat intently as Congress woman Stacey Plaskett, Lieutenant Governor Osbert Potter and Governor Kenneth E. Mapp spoke about the importance of first responders and their role in protecting and serving in the Virgin Islands.

The 13 firefighters sworn on Wednesday are Wilson Ferrence, Isiah Sonson, Mariano Lima, Leyan Antoine, Wayne Rawlins, Kai Callwood, Kamila Meyers, Gregory Klieman, Sharifa Malone, Jamal Lewis, Rasheed Richards, Marlon Richardson and Almeric Petersen.

Governor Kenneth Mapp thanked the recruits for their dedication and said that he remained committed to fully staffing the agencies responsible for the territory’s safety and security.

Fifteen new firefighters were sworn in Tuesday on St. Croix.
