ST. CROIX — Administrator Stephanie Williams announced Friday that improvements to the Little Bay road are now underway, which will be complete in time for the traditional Easter camping season. Above, a visual of the damaged Little Bay road.
The administrator said the goal is to make traversing the Little Bay Road a more comfortable and safe experience.
“Little Bay, like all Virgin Islands beaches, is public, but the road that leads to the beach is on a property privately owned by the Armstrong family,” Ms. Williams said. “However, they have authorized the government to make some improvements in the best interest of the community. This is one of our popular beaches where people come together for special events, and [where] residents exercise and take their regular swim.”
Currently, the road that leads to Little Bay is in terrible condition with stagnant water breeding mosquitoes, huge muddy holes and uneven surfaces, she said.
“We know that Easter weekend is fast approaching and a lot of Virgin Islanders will be on the beach, so we hope to improve conditions beforehand,” the administrator said.
“We thank the public for their cooperation and understanding during this process and wish everyone a most safe and enjoyable Easter holiday,” she concluded.
