ST. THOMAS — Norwegian Escape will make its maiden call on St. Thomas on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, according to a West Indian Company (WICO) press release. The ship is on its maiden voyage, and will berth at the West Indian Company Dock from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
“This is a ship of superlatives,” said Joseph B. Boschulte, president and CEO of WICO. “It is NCL’s newest and largest ship, the first in its Breakaway Plus class, and equipped with an array of indulgent accommodations and amenities. We certainly are pleased to have Norwegian Escape among the ships visiting our port regularly.”
Completed in October 2015 after seventeen months of construction, Norwegian Escape is the fourteenth ship in Norwegian Cruise Lines’ fleet, and the fifth largest cruise ship at sea. It will offer year round, seven-night itineraries from Miami to the Eastern Caribbean that include stops in St. Thomas, the BVI and the Bahamas.
Among the ship’s most notable features are the top deck Aqua Park, the largest family-friendly fun zone on the high seas; the first of Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurants at sea, and Tony Award-winning musical productions. The largest ropes course, a spa with a snow room and restaurants by Iron Chef Jose Garces also are among Norwegian Escape’s features.
