Man Accused Of Raping Acquaintance In Her Home

Breaking News / News / Virgin Islands / July 31, 2015

ST. THOMAS — A handyman who was hired to fix an AC unit at the home of a female acquaintance ultimately raped her, according to the alleged victim, who said the incident happened on July 15, but filed her report with the Richard N. Callwood Command on July 29, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has announced.

The woman stated that on July 15, the man accused of raping her had done some work earlier in the day at her house, and she called him at about 5:45 p.m. that evening informing him that the air-condition system was not working. The suspect, an acquaintance, said he would stop by the residence at 10:00 p.m. that same night to work on the AC unit again.

When the acquaintance returned to the home at an unspecified time, the woman told him that the AC unit was again operable. But as she was walking out her bedroom, the acquaintance allegedly forced her back onto the bed and raped her.

Jackson said detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau are investigating the matter.

I wear many hats, I suppose, but the one which fits me best would be journalism, second to that would be radio personality, thirdly singer/songwriter and down the line. I've been the Editor-In-Chief at my videogames website, Gamesthirst, for over 5 years, writing over 7,000 articles and more than 2 million words. I'm also very passionate about where I live, the United States Virgin Islands, and I'm intent on making it a better place by being resourceful and keeping our leaders honest. VI Consortium was birthed out of said desire, hopefully my efforts bear fruit. Reach me at [email protected].
