Sports, Parks and Recreation Announces Territory-Wide Summer Sports Training Programs

ST. CROIX — The Virgin Islands Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation has announced its 2015 territory-wide Summer Sports Training Programs to be held from June 29 through August 7, for ages 6 through 15, according to a press release issued by the department on Tuesday.

Games included in the summer training are: basketball, baseball, girls softball, tennis, boxing, marine sports, soccer and golf. The golf training will only be available on St. Thomas, according to the release.

Registration began on May 15 and ends on July 17. Currently, St. John and St. Croix are offering an “early bird” special of $25.00 off the registration fee if interested parties register on or before May 29.

Applications can be found at the Dept. of Sports, Parks and Recreation main offices territory-wide, and at the following locations:

St. Thomas: 8201 Sub base, Suite 206 and also in Winston Raymo Center, Alvin Mcbean Complex, Lockhart Elementary School and Joseph Aubain.

St. John: Cruz Bay Center

St. Croix: 3000 LBJ Gardens, Vincent Mason Pool (F’sted), Isaac Boynes (Grove Place), Rudy Krieger (Sion Farm), Pedro Cruz Ball park (Est. Profit) and D.C Canegata Office and Recreational Center from 1pm – 9pm daily.

Territory-wide camp locations are as follows:

St. Thomas:

Location: Joseph Aubain Ballpark and Emile Griffith Ballpark
Baseball and softball camps
Ages 6-14
Activity: Learning fundamentals of the game

Location: TBD
Golf & soccer camps: old time Virgin Islanders meet
Activity: Cultural

Location: Lockhart elementary school at the Alvin Mcbean Complex
Cheer and sports camps
Activity: Recreational sporting variety

St. John:

Main site – Cruz Bay Center (Pick up and Drop off point — 8am and 5pm) Monday — Friday.

Location: Oppenheimer Beach
Activity: Pine Peace Basketball

Location: National Parks Ballpark
Activity: Basketball games, swimming, hiking, soccer games, girls softball games and other programs, as well as children baseball games and steel pan

St. Croix:

Locations: Vincent Mason Pool and Isaac Boynes Ballpark
Activity: Marine Sports Variety sports

Locations: Pedro Cruz Complex and Rudy Kriegger Complex
Activity: Girls softball, baseball, basketball, soccer, boxing and more

Locations: D.C Canegata Ballparks
Activity: Girls sofball, baseball, basketball and tennis
