St. Thomas Man Injured During Shooting Incident

A St. Thomas man was injured during a shooting incident in the area of Bergs Home on Wednesday night, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has announced.

According to Jackson, police units from the Richard N. Callwood Command responded to the area of Bergs Home in reference to shots being fired at around 10:25 p.m. Upon arriving on the scene, officers observed an overturned vehicle in the area of Building 13 of the housing community, and moments later contact was made with the operator of the vehicle in the area of Hospital Ground.

The operator of the vehicle, whose name was not released by the VIPD, was later transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center by ambulance, and was treated for a fractured left index finger and two lacerations to the right side of his head.

The victim was unable to give any information as to who may have shot at him.

The VIPD is asking anyone with information concerning this incident to contact the Investigations Bureau at 340-715-5557, 911 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
