JFL Plans First Clean-Up Day On Saturday

Community Center / Government / Health / News / Virgin Islands / February 20, 2015

In an effort to “enhance” the experience of patients receiving care at St. Croix’s only hospital, Juan F. Luis Hospital (JFL) will hold a clean-up activity on Sat., Feb. 21 outside the Emergency Room from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“This is just the first of the things that those of us who work here will be doing to enhance the patient experience of our clientele,” said Francis Clouden, clinical care coordinator and event organizer. “Although it’s a little thing, it’ll be a big morale booster for our employees, as well. We want everyone to feel good about coming to work here.  The change begins with us.”

According to information released from JFL, the four-hour activity will include power-washing the outside of the facility, and washing down medical equipment, such as wheelchairs, IV stands and stretchers. In the future, the hospital also plans to plant more “shade trees and ornamental plants” on its grounds, as well as provide a face lift to the common areas in the hospital.

“We are proud to be JFL employees and we are going to wear our pride on the outside,” Clouden said. “There are good things happening here and good people that work here. We are inviting the community to join with us on a monthly basis to help us do the little things that will mean so much in the long run.  Every journey begins with a single step and this is our way of doing that.”

Community organizations interested in assisting JFL for this or future activities are asked to email Emmett Hansen, chief of strategic management and communications at [email protected] or call (340) 778-6311, ext. 3112.
