The Biggest Crowd Came Out For Reggae Night At Carnival Village

Reggae music is considered by many to be the Caribbean’s anthem, so it was no surprise that the biggest crowd seen at the Romney’s World Carnival Village in Frederiksted, St. Croix, came out on Friday night, where top local reggae artists serenaded residents and visitors alike with their greatest hits, and acts from away kept the event alive with first-rate songs of their own.

The world-renowned Midnight Band, fresh off of receiving a Reggae Album of the Year award from iTunes, opened up the night and played for nearly two hours. The band touched on hits like Mama Africa and New Life, receiving an overwhelming response as concert goers cheered in appreciation of the selected renditions.

Jamaican artists Demarco and Tony Rebel brought the hits, too: Demarco with Love My Life among additional notable titles, and Tony Rebel with Fresh Vegetable and other exceptional, chart-topping songs.

The last man to take the stage was none other than the Virgin Islands’ chart-topping, globally recognized artist, Pressure, who captivated the crowded Village with a stupendous performance, singing many of his outstanding hits, including Virgin Islands Nice.

There was no need for Pressure to sing a single lyric of the aforementioned song, as the people sang with him all the way through, welling the atmosphere with VI pride and conveying a sense of hope going into 2015.
