Governor John P. de Jongh, Jr. on Monday issued an audio recording outlining the expected employment and steps he says the Government took to secure the contractor, St. Croix-based GEC, LLC, for the demolition and reconstruction of Frederiksted’s Paul E. Joseph Stadium.
According to the company’s website, GEC, LLC has extensive experience in the territory, as it is the contractors of the Louis E. Brown Apartments and Senior Villas on St. Croix, as well as a number of other projects on St. Thomas and St. John.
In a previous report on the stadium’s planned reconstruction, it was reported that the contract was awarded to Portage, Wisconsin-based General Engineering Corporation. However, St. Croix’s GEC, LLC has no affiliation with General Engineering Corporation in Wisconsin.
