Nov. 4 General Elections Certified; St. Croix Results Enclosed

Featured / News / Virgin Islands / November 16, 2014

On Saturday night, at about 6:50 p.m., a St. Croix Board of Elections meeting was convened by Board Chairman Adelbert Bryan to announce that the St. Croix District had certified its portion of the November 4 General Elections.

Bryan convened the meeting without a quorum, as only Bryan himself, Roland Moolenaar and Lilliana Belardo de O’Neal were in attendance. In order to have a quorum, the Board needs at least four members present. Earlier, Rupert Ross, Lisa Moorehead and Raymond Williams were at the Elections System office, where the Board has its offices; however, they left just moments before the meeting convened.

Just as four members are needed to form a quorum, four signatures are needed to certify an election. While Bryan refused to place his signature on the document approving the results–because he said the document did not contain a section outlining the number of spoiled ballots and other categories of importance–the election was still certified, as it was signed by four Board members, including Rupert Ross, Lisa Moorehead, Raymond Williams and Roland Moolenaar.

The meeting ended shortly after the announcement of certification.
