If you planned on taking advantage of the early voting option available to registered voters, there’s still time to cast your vote today before the 6 p.m. cut off time.
Supervisor of Elections Caroline Fawkes issued a statement on the process being used:
“The early voting process that will be utilized beginning today is that electors coming will deposit their ballot in the holding bin of the DS-200 that has multiple forms of security. The ballots will be in a sealed container for safe keeping until election when the District Boards can individually count them under the scrutiny of the community. We discussed our options and found that this is the best practice that we could utilize to ensure that no voter is disenfranchised. The goal of the Boards and the Supervisor is to ensure a Fair, Accessible and Transparent Elections. We appreciate the community’s support as we work through this situation.”
The Joint Boards of Elections along with the Office of the Supervisor of Elections have announced that pursuant to Act 7643, EARLY VOTING will begin on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 and end on Friday, October 31, 2014.
Voting is from 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. each day at the respective district offices (St. Croix and St. Thomas-St. John):
- ST. CROIX OFFICE
STX – Sunny Isle Annex Unit 4 (adjacent to the Social Security Office)
- ST. THOMAS OFFICE
STT – 9200 Lockhart Gardens (above Banco Popular)
- ST. JOHN OFFICE
STJ – Estate Enighed
The St. John office will open an hour early on two of its early-voting days in order to accommodate more voters:
Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26 from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
