the appearance of the DOE before your committee pending my announcement of major issues affecting

Good day Commissioner and Senator Forde; I am made aware that the leadership team of the 
Department of Education is scheduled to appear before the Legislature’s Committee on Education 
tomorrow April 3rd. In an earlier discussion, Commissioner McCollum advised me of this meeting. I 
asked the Commissioner to request a postponement of the meeting subsequent to Friday April 6, 2018. 
I’m advised today that the request to postpone the hearing has been denied by the Chairperson of the 
Committee.

Commissioner, by way of this email, I’m advising you that no member of the leadership team of the 
Dept. Of Education is authorized to appear before any committee of the 32nd Legislature before Friday, 
April 6, 2018. 

I have scheduled a press conference on Friday, April 6, 2018 to discuss with the community major 
decisions and and capital investments regarding the state of public education in the territory. 
Commissioner, please advise your leadership team of my directive. I look forward to meeting with you 
and your team upon my return to the territory on Wednesday.
