ST. THOMAS -- Monday at roughly 6:30 a.m., the 911 emergency call center received notification from the United States Coast Guard of Puerto Rico, reporting that the Rainbow Maker, a vessel that had been missing at sea since Sunday, had been found on the southern side of Coral Bay, according to a press release VIPD Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman issued on Tuesday.
According to Ms. Freeman, the first inspection of the vessel indicated that it was empty as no occupants were found aboard. However, during further inspection of the general area, the body of a Caucasian male was discovered floating in the water along the shoreline.
The vessel is registered to Vince Barnett of Coral Bay Harbor, who was last seen by area residents on Saturday, November 14.
No obvious signs of foul play have been uncovered in the matter at this time, according to Ms. Freeman, adding that detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau are continuing their investigation.
