ST. JOHN — The V.I. Police Department's Criminal Investigation Bureau is currently investigating a death on arrival incident that occurred in the early hours of Friday, December 29, 2023, in the Grunwald area of St. John.

According to the VIPD, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a man visited his mother's residence to check on her well-being. Upon arrival, he discovered that she was not breathing and unresponsive. Despite his immediate call to emergency medical services and subsequent life-saving attempts, the woman, later identified as 55-year-old Marisol Fergurson of St. Thomas, tragically succumbed to her ailments.

The VIPD officers responded to the scene around 1:50 a.m., confirming the death. The CIB Major Crimes Unit has taken charge of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ms. Fergurson's death.

The authorities are appealing to the public for any information related to the incident.
