The U.S. Postal Service will officially recognize David O. Stevens as the new Postmaster of St. Thomas during a swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, March 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Government House.

According to a release issued by USPS on Monday, the private ceremony will be led by Carlos E. Del Toro, USPS Puerto Rico/USVI District Manager, who will administer the Oath of Office.
Stevens, a native of St. Croix, now holds the highest-ranking postmastership in the U.S. Virgin Islands. With nearly four decades of service under his belt, he brings to the role a career defined by upward mobility, dedication, and deep community ties, according to the release.
His career with the United States Postal Service began in 1987 as a Window/Distribution Clerk. Over the years, Stevens has held a range of leadership positions, including Supervisor Customer Service, Manager Customer Service, and Officer in Charge. In these roles, he has overseen postal operations in both Fajardo, Puerto Rico and Kingshill, St. Croix, and managed daily delivery and retail functions at the Main Post Office and four satellite stations in St. Thomas.
In February 2018, Stevens was appointed Postmaster of St. John, a position he held while also managing St. Thomas postal operations intermittently through October 2022. He returned to St. Thomas in June 2024 as Officer in Charge, and on January 11, 2025, was officially promoted to Postmaster.

Now overseeing five post offices on St. Thomas, Stevens is focused on enhancing customer satisfaction and ensuring timely mail delivery, USPS said. His goals include strengthening service at all local branches and maintaining high performance among the city's mail carriers.
