Lieutenant Governor Tregenza A. Roach left the territory on Monday to participate in the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Southeastern Zone Business Meeting in Jackson, Mississippi.

In his role as the commissioner of insurance for the U.S. Virgin Islands, Roach serves as a member of the NAIC and is actively involved in various conferences, training sessions, and meetings funded directly by the association.

The NAIC provides insurance commissioners with expertise, data, and analysis to regulate the industry effectively and protect consumers. As a U.S. standard-setting organization, it is governed by insurance regulators from the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories, including the Virgin Islands.

The Southeastern Zone meeting brings together members to discuss regional issues pertinent to the geographic areas contained within the zone. Members of the NAIC are grouped into zones that meet periodically to address concerns specific to each region. The Virgin Islands is part of the Southeastern Zone.

Mr. Roach will return to the territory on Thursday, May 9, 2024. In his absence, Senate President Novelle E. Francis, Jr. will assume the duties of the Lieutenant Governor, as per the Revised Organic Act of the Virgin Islands.
