The Terrace restaurant at The Buccaneer Beach & Golf Resort recently played host to Eric Marshall, who in 2021 won season 49 of Food Network’s acclaimed cooking competition "Chopped".

Chef Marshall, who serves as a Food Network Brand Ambassador Celebrity Chef, treated diners at the Terrace to an exclusive food demonstration showcasing the vibrant flavors of the Caribbean.

Marshall used his own brand of seasoning – Slapp’n – to elevate pan-seared wild salmon with roasted vegetable coconut sauce. He paired the protein with garlic truffle mashed potatoes, sautéed asparagus and cherry tomatoes with fried potato skins.

As he cooked, the celebrity chef shared culinary insights, demonstrated various cooking techniques, and disclosed some of the secrets behind his creations. A discussion following the demonstration educated guests on the influences of Caribbean and international cuisine, and Chef Marshall also spoke of his own journey as an actor, entrepreneur, and celebrity chef.

Guests at the Terrace expressed excitement to meet the self-taught chef, who has since served as catering executive chef for Tyler Perry studios and as private chef to the royal Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the United States. Chef Marshall’s visit to St. Croix is the latest in a line of celebrities attracted to the beauty of the island and the vibrance of its food culture.
