Korda Cornelius By. THE VIRGIN ISLANDS POLICE DEPARTMENT

ST. THOMAS – A 45-year-old man, Korda Cornelius of Contant Knolls, was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Virgin Islands Police Department officers were on Raphune Hill on traffic enforcement about 1:30 p.m. when they observed a vehicle with the windshield heavily tinted, according to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima.

Officers initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle and noticed the odor of marijuana coming from it. That prompted officers to search the vehicle, where they found two firearms of different calibers. Upon finding the firearms, Cornelius was placed under arrest.

Unable to make bail of $50,000, Cornelius was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
