ST. THOMAS — A St. Thomas man, Larry Webbe, was arrested on charges of grand larceny and buying, receiving, or possessing atolen property after an investigation by the Economic Crime Unit revealed his involvement in a theft scheme at Home Depot. Webbe admitted to receiving merchandise valued at over one thousand dollars while only paying $28.93, following collusion with a former Home Depot employee who allowed customers to leave the store with unpaid items.

According to the complaint, on February 22, 2024, Webbe was interviewed by the ECU and admitted knowing the Home Depot cashier involved. He acknowledged that the items were worth more than one thousand dollars but claimed he only paid $28.93. Webbe chose not to return the merchandise, stating he did not want to get the Home Depot employee in trouble.

On May 7, 2024, U.S. Customs and Border Protection detained Webbe at Cyril E. King International Airport and handed him over to the Economic Crime Unit Detectives. He was subsequently arrested and charged with grand larceny (aiding and abetting) and buying, receiving, or possessing stolen property.

Webbe's bail was set at $20,000, and he was transported to the Richard N. Callwood Command for processing. He was then remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending an Advice of Rights hearing scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the Superior Court.
