ST.  CROIX — The V.I. Police Department has announced the arrest of Justin S. Clarke, 32, on charges of fraudulent use of a credit card, obtaining money by false pretense, and petit larceny.

The arrest occurred on March 15, 2024, following an investigation by the Economic Crimes Unit into activities that took place in October 2023.

According to the VIPD, the case against Clarke stems from an incident on October 23, 2023, where he allegedly took an individual’s Visa credit card from the credit card machine at Plaza Extra and made unauthorized purchases at various locations including Office Max, Pollo Tropical, Falcon Service Station, Pueblo La Reine, Super Dollar, and Bunkers. The total amount charged fraudulently to the card was $220.33.

Detectives executed an arrest warrant at UDL Lumber on March 15, 2024, at 11:01 A.M., taking Clarke into custody without incident. Following his arrest, Clarke was transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Police Operation Building in Frederiksted for processing.

Bail for Clarke was set at $5,500.00, and he was subsequently released on an unsecured bond by Magistrate Judge Yulan Brow-Ross. Clarke is scheduled for an Advice of Rights hearing on Monday, March 18, at the Virgin Islands Superior Court.
