Between Friday and Saturday, the V.I. Dept. of Health reported 19 new cases of the coronavirus in the USVI, as the virulent disease continues to spread in territory.

On Friday, D.O.H. reported 7 cases on St. Croix and 3 in St. Thomas. There were no new cases on St. John.

The Friday infographic showed 5 community spread cases in St. Thomas, a scenario that is difficult to control unless stringent protocols are put in place or a wide net is cast for contact tracing.

Seven cases on St. Croix were under investigation as of Friday.

On Saturday St. Croix had 7 new cases while St. Thomas had 2. No new cases were reported on St. John for the aforementioned days, leaving the island's total unchanged at 15.

Seven people have died of the virus in the USVI, including a 23-year-old pregnant woman in St. Thomas, according to three people with knowledge of the matter.
