The V.I. Dept. of Education has informed the public about operational changes in the St. Croix district due to inclement weather impacting school campuses on St. Croix.

Pearl B. Larsen PreK-8, John H. Woodson Jr. High School, and St. Croix Central High School will transition to remote instruction on Monday, April 22, 2024.

"Due to inclement weather impacting these three school campuses on St. Croix, the VIDE is proactively implementing measures to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff," the department stated. Consequently, these schools will switch to remote instruction on the specified date.

The department said it has prioritized safety while acknowledging the importance of in-person learning. "Teachers will post and share assignments with students through various platforms, including Schoology, Microsoft Teams, or email," the VIDE noted. Education officials will continue to closely monitor the weather and its impact on the campuses and provide updates to the community as necessary.

Additionally, principals, assistant principals, custodians, paraprofessionals, office staff, monitors, and maintenance personnel are instructed to report to their respective campuses as scheduled.

The department expressed gratitude for the community's understanding and cooperation during this period. "We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of students, parents, and staff during this time," VIDE stated, emphasizing the collective effort to ensure uninterrupted learning while prioritizing community well-being.
